April's 2013 Tag

Now is this cutting it close or what, lol.
I have finally got around to making Tim Holtz monthly tag.
Isn't it so Springy :)
So not like Tim's tag.

Tim Holtz was focusing on his metallic distress paints.
Not only don't I have his distress paints, I don't have any of his paints.
So I played around with my acrylic paints and my metallic acrylic paints.
And look what I got....a big stinkin' mess, lol.
I have also realized something about me... I don't like to get my hands dirty, lol.
I think I washed my fingers so many times because I had so much ink on them.

So lets take a closer look at the tag.
I wanted to make something spring-like for April as our snow has almost all melted (thank you rain :)
I stamped the butterfly on the paper then used Staz-on and stamped it on some acetate. I then zapped it with the heat gun for a tad and let the wings curl, then formed them as I wanted.
I love this zipper pull for his or her body.

I love gears and all types of metal embellishments, but because I wanted this to be soft and Springy, I added the flower behind the bottle cap and charm.
See that little bit of washi tape under the pen nib?

I took a picture frame charm I had picked up at the dollar store a few years ago and adhered a tiny butterfly charm on the edge of it.
I did use my metallic gold paint and went around the edge of the tag with it.

So again here is my completed tag for April.
Not at all like his, but I have to thank Tim for all his inspiration :)
Tomorrow Tim shares his tag for May....lets hope I don't wait till the last minute to make this one ;)

Onto My Day:
I finally got around to doing the drawing and making the video for my YouTube 200th/Spring Clean up giveaway :)
I made April's tag.
Krsity and Blake came home early from school today, that was a surprise.
Heather made supper tonight :)
I am invited to the movies with my friend Lynne and Denise. I have no idea which movie....but no matter which one we go to, it will still be a good time :)

I hope you all have had a creative Tuesday :)

More Smashing Goin' On

Here is another 2 page spread I did in my Smash book.
I am having so much fun that I haven't been doing much else, lol.
I haven't even started my April's tag yet.
I haven't picked a winner for my giveaway that I was suppose to do on Sunday.
But then again, I don't think I have made a 100% decision on if I am doing another YT channel or not.

Okay enough about what I didn't do, and lets get on to what I have done...lets go with the positive ;)
This page is from a weekend trip we took to Minneapolis..as most of them are ;)

This page was pretty plain so it was easy to do. I didn't have to work around images on the paper or try to cover them up.
I stamped the banner on pattern paper and then fussy cut it out.
I had letter stickers that I attached to the banner to spell out "trip"
I printed the photos in the 2up setting, which is 2.5x3.5

I worked with the paper on this page.
I added a photo of my treats I buy on our trips :)
Not sure if this is a guilty pleasure...but it sure is a pleasure, lol.

I am hoping I get to work on my April 2013 tag. Tomorrow is the last day of the month, I better get busy, lol. Wow, this month has went by hasn't it.
I am definitely doing the draw for my giveaway tomorrow.

I took Kristy driving today.
She is still not wanting to drive on the street, so we went to an empty parking lot for her to practice.
She is doing really good, a bit on the speedy side...just like her mom ;)

I hope you all have had a creative Monday :)

I've been a Smashing Fool

I have been smashing all weekend, and have been having a blast.
I know my smashing is more of a scrapbook style, but that's what I do ;)
I think I am the slowest person when it comes to creating.
Like I said I have been Smashing all weekend, but have only completed 6 pages (3...2 page spreads) and have started on the next one.

Here are the pages I did about my getaway with my friend Debbie, from last Aug.
I made the envelopes, or I should say altered the envelopes on these pages.

I took an envelope, sealed the flap and then cut it down to the size I needed.
I also sliced a thin bit off the opposite end for my papers to go in.

Then I scored the end, cut the back off to the score mark and lastly folded and adhered the front flap to the back of the envelope.
You know what...just watch my video, lol. Start at the 2:00 mark.

I also altered this bank envelope.
I'm not sure why, but I have a thing with envelopes, lol.
This one was easy. I just measured my paper to fit in the outlined box of the envelope.
Cut the flap off and cut a half circle off the top.

Now lets take a closer look at the page shall we?
I sized the photos to be 4 up. What that means is I can fit 4 photos on a regular 4x6 photo.
Here is the 1st envelope I altered.
I put in the map of our hike, the Mr Chinese menu and bill that we received when we went out to our getaway :)

I used the same sized photos for this page as well.
Here is the second envelope that I altered.
Inside here, I did some journaling of our days there. It is a real long journal tag and there is journaling on both sides.
I wanted to keep this saying on the bottom of this page, so I worked around it.

Even though it has taken me all day to do just this one layout, it was fun and more freeing.
Freeing, as I used my own handwriting, I didn't worry about matting every photo and I use more of my memorabilia on these pages.
Oops I just realized I didn't add my fortunes from our fortune cookies on here...I did save them though ;)

I wanted to stay home all day and create, so Wayne took Heather and Kristy driving.
He said they did good :)

I hope you all have had a creative Sunday :)

A Smashing Good Time

Today I have been working on my Smash Book.
I have dedicated this book to our family trips we take.
Last layout was from Feb 2012. So a bit behind, teehee.
Today I wanted to catch up...well I haven't exactly caught up, but I am happy with the 4 pages I have done ;)

If you remember from my post "Failing at Smashing" I don't like a few of the pages.
Well I took care of him ;)

I really like the colour of these pages and I like the words on this one page.
So I wanted to utilize them :)
I made this pocket out of pattern paper, and put in our card key (I save these everytime we stay in a hotel ;) I also put in a Cabela's card I scooped up at the store.
I also decorated it up with some washi tape and also added some washi on the price tag from my daughter's favourite store.
Here is the page with the scary guy on it ;)
I covered him up with the same pattern paper I used for the pocket on the opposite page.
More washi tape and some small journal tags.
I printed my photos with a border and the 2up setting, which is 3"x4" size.

Onto My Day:
Do you enjoy the game of Frisbee?
Well my girls and I played a game of stale pitas, lol.
I hate to waste food, so when I noticed our pitas were past their best before date, I decided to feed them to the birds and chipmunks. So the girls and I went outside and threw some pita Frisbees over the fence, teehee. It was fun :)

I am thinking of either making or buying another Smash book, to use as an "about me" type of journal. I keep meaning to do a scrapbook about me, and never do it. This may be a better and easier way to do something like this.
I had seen where this one lady used a composition note book and decorated the pages with washi tape. I want to try that as well.
So many ideas :)

I hope you all have had a creative Saturday :)

Re-doing a Layout...I never would have thought ;)

Guess what I did tonight on Scrapbooking Friday.
I Scrapbooked.
Like actual scrapbook pages. Not cards, or a mini album or organizing, but actual scrapbook pages :)
Its been a while, like almost a year.

Okay let me clarify this a bit more.
I really re-did a page.
I had done this page years ago (from 2008) and was never really happy with it. But because I had (and still do) so many other photos and events I wanted to scrapbook, I just left it as is.
Well the other night, I looked at all my old scrapbooking pages and I just cringed at this one.
I really wanted to change it.

So I did :)
I didn't do anything different with the photos.
I even kept them with the same black mats I had.

I guess I should tell you about the event of these pages.
This is my middle daughter Heather when she was in high school during a concert.
She was in band and really enjoyed it.
I love the 8x8 paper I have used with the converse on it. Heather has always and still loves and wears her converse :)

I love that little wooden owl :)
Heather also likes owls. I really like that these pages are more to her style then the one I did in 2008 :)
I am really happy with how they turned out.

I was on Katie's blog yesterday and she had this question about changing an already completed layout.
As I commented on her blog, I had never thought I would ever re-do a layout, as looking at the finished layout gives me memories of who I was with when I made that particular layout.
So I get double memories ;)
But then again..never say never ;)

Oh ya and the thing I thought I had to do today...I think it was to go out with Ashley for lunch, but we did that yesterday instead.
At least I think that is what is was..no one phoned me to tell me I forgot something anyway ;)

I hope you all had a creative Friday :)

Oh beautiful flowers

I told you if I wanted to see flowers anytime soon, I'd have to go out and buy them ;)
Actually these aren't for me.
Today is my friend/SIL's birthday. So my daughters bought her these flowers :)
Of course I got her scrapbooking goodies ;)

Today was actually a nice day.
I went outside without a winter jacket on :)
I think Spring may actually be on its way here. Hope I didn't jinx it.

I am doing a giveaway on my YouTube channel.
Just thought I would let you know if you would like a chance to win :)
I don't know why, but I keep having this feeling that there is something I am suppose to do tomorrow.
But I don't have anything on my calender and no one else can think of it either.
So lets hope it isn't anything....or I will just have to miss it, lol.

I hope you all have had a creative Thursday.

March 2012 tag video...a bit late ;)

Remember this tag?
I made it for the Tim Holtz monthly tags for 2013.

Well I have finally put up a video of this tag, going into more detail.

Onto My Day:
I helped Heather make a strawberry cheesecake....well actually I just sat and chatted with her while she made it ;)
We enjoyed it after dinner :)

I hope you all had a creative Wednesday :)

Movie night with the girls :)

Tonight was a fun night :)
Thursday is my friend and SIL, Sharon's birthday.
So my other friend Lynne and I took her for dinner and then to a movie.
We went to see Identity Thief.
It was so funny :)

Onto My Day:
I took Kristy to the doctor. She has been getting a lot of headaches. Like 3 or 4 each week :(
So she was sent for an x-ray and we go back to see the results. And then go from there.

I found out that our doctor is leaving next year. We have been going to him for over 24 yrs.
Not looking forward to trying to find a new doctor. Not to many are even taking on new patients.
I also found out that the x-ray and scan dept are going to be going through some changes at my clinic.
They don't even know what is going to stay if anything :(

I didn't get time to create today, but I did put some of my crafts away :)
I hope you all had a creative Tuesday :)

Smoothie and some smash questions

Kristy has been really into making smoothie's.
Actually she has loved making them for years.
But lately she has been a bit more creative with them.
Like tonight, she made a two toned smoothie.
Pretty isn't it :)

I really didn't get much accomplished today. Actually I spent most of the day on the phone.
I was pretty popular today, lol.
So I thought I would do a survey I had seen it on a smash book called:
Currently:
Listening: I am listening to the tv show "24". Wayne and I have been watching it on Netflix for the last couple of weeks....we are always late on tv shows...except for the Walking Dead ;)

Eating: Right now I'm not eating anything. But today I had a waffle, piece of toast with honey, some popcorn twists and a Areo chocolate bar..oh ya and 2 bites of a hamburger. I know not the healthiest.

Drinking: Again I'm not drinking anything at the moment, but I did drink a can of Coca- cola and a glass of milk to eat with my girl guide cookie...oops forgot to write that one down, teehee.

Wearing: A purple sweat shirt and matching lounge pants (pj pants). Just because I am dressed like a slob, doesn't mean I can't be colour coordinated, teehe.

Feeling: I am feeling pretty relaxed. But I want to do so much and don't have the umph..maybe I'm too relaxed ;)

Weather: Lets not go there, ok.

Wanting: To have more umph

Needing: To get back into my routines and start my walking again.

Thinking: Of starting up another YouTube channel for all my Defunkifying Missions...what do you all think? I'm thinking they should be separate then my crafting channel...opinions please :)

Enjoying: I am actually enjoying sitting on my arse and surfing the web ;)

So how would you answer these questions.
I love that these same questions could be answered differently every day :)

I hope you have all had a creative Monday :)

Tracy :)

Calender Update

I had a great time at my crop yesterday.
Whats not to love..creating, friends and snacks (with lots of pop) ;)
I worked on my calender there.
Remember my calender? The one I was planning on sharing every month. The one I was putting into this stand.
Yea, I just did that one month, January and didn't like how it turned out so decided to start from scratch.

Here is April's calender page :)

January's page.
I used the Graphic 45 Place in Time Stack.
Funny as I didn't like it when I bought it, but I did like the concept.
On January's page I added a pocket watch charm on the 1st of the month.

Here is February's calender page.
I think this one is one of my favourites.
I added cupcakes on the days that birthdays fall on.

Here is March's calender page.
I backed all the decorative papers with black card stock.
You may wonder why I did the pages of the month that have already passed.
Well I am hoping to do a layout of each month and put them all in a scrapbook.
I always have so many ideas...I just need to carry them out ;)

Here are how the pages started out.
Funny thing is, they only supplied one of these pages in the paper stack. I was like WTH.
So I just copied 12 of them on my photocopier/printer and was good to go.
As you can see, they are pretty plain. Pretty though.
So I added a block for the numbers to go, added the numbers and decorated them up :)
I am really happy with how they turned out.
I just need to find a really small stamp set with different occasions.

Wayne had some fun today.
He took out the snowblower and threw some snow over the fence.
Look the sun is shining :)

I thought I would have got a lot more done at the crop yesterday.
I brought 3 other projects to do...I seriously thought this calender would have only taken me a few hours, lol.
So I figured, I'm not going to unpack until I get what I wanted to do completed.
Lets just hope it doesn't take me too long ;)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a creative Sunday :)

12 hour Crop

            Out for a Crop
Blogger temporarily unavailable ;)

I am at a 12 hour crop right now.
Crop for Autism.
This silly weather we are having, is NOT stopping me from going :)

I have packed pretty light haven't I.
I am going to pack my copics in another type of bag as I don't want them to get wet..or lose any if I slip and fall on the ice, teehee.  Well, actually I guess that's not really funny is it.

I hope you all have a creative Saturday, I know I will :)

Please no more snow

Today was a crazy weather day.
We received a lot more snow..and the wind was a blowin'

Heather had an appointment to get her hair cut...the salon is only about 8 blocks away.
It was a PA Day today, and I told Kristy yesterday that her boyfriend could come over.
So the girls went out to shovel the driveway. I told them they didn't have to as I will just put in 4x4 and ram the grader bank ;)
But they wanted to shovel, so shovel they did.

This is the side of our house after it was shoveled twice :(
As I was driving Heather for her hair appointment, I lost visability because of the snow, but mostly because of the high winds blowing the snow. I wasn't even able to see the street light.
I had to actually stop in the parking lot as I couldn't see all around me.
Sadly I had to tell Kristy that I couldn't pick up Blake as it isn't safe to be driving.

Then I find out the city buses has stopped running because of the visibility.
All Library's, pools, the college and University have all been shut down.
Highways, expressways and other roads have been closed. Wayne had to drive the side roads to get back to work.
This is a photo from a local lady  that posted this to Magic 99.9. Mine didn't get this high, but then again we have a fence close to our side door and I kept trying to keep it clear.

So what do we do when we are stranded at home and certain girl can't see her boyfriend :(
We make a taco salad/dip :)

And a smoothie made with fresh fruit :)
I would have went for hot chocolate myself...but grabbed a can (or two) of pop (coca-cola) myself, teehee.

I hope you all have had a creative Friday and enjoyed your day.
Just in case you are wondering....Friday Night Scrapbooking was canceled tonight :(

Baby comfort ;)

I wasn't feeling up to par today, so when I came home after running some errands, I went on the couch and Kristy covered me up with her baby blanket.
Her blanket is over 18 yrs old and is wearing a bit thin on the edges...but it still gives her comfort when she needs it...and I guess it gives me comfort as well ;)

Today would have been a perfect day to stay home.
But it was my day to dive Kristy and her friends to school.
Then I had to pick her up and take her to her college class.
Then go and pick her up from there, and we went to get groceries.
All in this.......

We are having snow warnings, could get up to 10- 15cm tonight.
I want to see some flowers....guess I'll be picking some up from the florist if I want to see some any time soon, lol.

I didn't even get a chance today to play in my planner :(

I hope you all had a creative Thursday :)

LBBS Design Team card and a Paper Piecing Video

Lots to share today :)
I made me Design Team project for Little Blue Buttons Stamps today.
Isn't this image of Olga's just adorable. I know I say that about all of her images...but its true.
The image I used today is called Miss Lily Yummy.
I really am liking the soft pink/grey combo lately. Which is odd, as I tend to like the darker richer colours.

I coloured Miss Lily up with my Copic markers, I even recorded them for ya ;)
I paper pieced the icing of the cupcake and Miss Lily's dress and hair bow.
I got around to making that video for paper piecing my digital images  today, I posted the video at the bottom of this post :)

I drew around the matted image with my Copic liner pen. I was thinking of adding another pattern paper mat, but nothing looked right...but I am really happy with the pen frame.
I just love these mini decorative buttons :)

I also love this flower.
I coloured in the center of the flower with my Copic marker. It looks red, but it is a deeper red then this, more like the actual button colour.

Here is the inside of my card.
As always I used left over papers from the front of the card and a recipe/index card

Here are the Copics I had used on this image :)

But wait!!!!
There is more :)
Here is the video I made of how I paper piece my digital images :)

Wow, I need a nap now ;)

I hope you all have had a creative Wednesday.
If you would like, you can check out my post on the LBBS blog :)

My day in photos

I am still working on my day planner and having a blast putting it together.
But I had better get a move on and actually start using it, I soooo need it.

Tomorrow is suppose to be my DT day to share my project.
I coloured an adorable image, made the card and I even did a big long blog post with it, on here.
I was wondering why I couldn't find the image to link...then re-read the note that Olga left....well, I wasn't suppose to use the new images until May...May!!! Its April...oh crap.
So I had to take down my blog post.
Unfortunately I don't have time to make another card before tomorrow.
But luckily there is an opening on the 18th, so I just switched my DT day...whew.

So instead I thought I would share with you some of my day....in photos.
Cell phone photos ;)
This here is a treat I had made Kristy.
I had a large can of peaches, so cut them up, added some ice-cream and a dollop of whipping cream.
Dollop...who came up with that word...I kind of like it.
I think I will see how many times I can add this word to my day ;)

I think Kristy liked it as she had 3 helpings :)

Kristy has been fighting a real nasty cold, and has stayed home from school the last couple of days.
When she went to work on Saturday, one of the ladies had offered to pay her wage, just for Kristy to stay home, lol.
So she called in sick on Sunday and has stayed home from school.
I think she is going tomorrow. At least she thinks she will go tomorrow, we will see. You get more than a dollop of homework in high-school and she hates to miss it.
I guess she wants to stay close to mommy, as she has napping on the couch.

On Sunday we ordered Chinese food for supper.
Actually Ashley wanted it. So I bribed her.
I told her to clean up the whole kitchen and I will order it.
I have a rule...if you cook, you don't have to clean up after.
As you know I don't care to cook, so this gets me out of that quite a bit, teehee.
So at the end of dinner, I had said to the girls. Technically dad and I cooked (as we paid for the food) so we don't have to put anything away ;)
So the girls cleaned up afterwards. Look how organized Ashley is, she labeled everything :)
I smiled when I opened the fridge ;)

So that is it for me tonight.
Since I can't share with you my card, lol.

I hope you all have had a creative Tuesday :)

Tracy :)
